Dog Protecting House from Robbers Gets Stabbed in Head

Bella the dog sat in the car on the way to the vet minutes after burglars stabbed an eight inch blade into her skull. The six-year-old family German Shepard mix named Bella, needed emergency surgery to remove the knife sticking out of her skull on Saturday. On the way to the vet Bella kept bumping the knife into the window as she was looking out it and acting like her normal self. Her owners said it was like she didn’t even know it was there. The vet couldn’t believe what he was seeing either. He gave her a general anesthetic and had to put his knee against her head to pull the knife out. She had five or six stitches and then woke up in front of the fire half at home an hour later. She didn’t even seem to realize what had happened.

Bella was attacked on in the early hours of Saturday morning while defending a neighbor’s property from robbers in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The knife has been given to the police to try and investigate the attempted robbery and the stabbing of Bella.
