Special Adoption Drive in Memory of Dog Dragged to Death

Just one of the dogs that was available for during the adoption event

On Friday, Jonesboro Animal Control in Arkansas was forced to put down a five-month-old pitbull puppy that was dragged behind a vehicle. Police have made arrested Cameron Wright and charged him with aggravated animal cruelty. When news broke of the  puppy being dragged behind a vehicle the community came out in force and helped authorities track down the abuser. Police say Wright admitted to dragging the dog but has given no explanation as to why he did it.  He is being held on $10,000 bond.

To help the community deal with the tragedy and shock a special adoption event was created at the Jonesboro Animal Control on Saturday. Animal control officials lowered the usual fee.  The fee includes a rabies shot and neuter or spaying. The hope was that this would help start healing the communities sadness and be the perfect way to remember a young puppy whose life was tragically cut short.

Police Sgt. Larry Rogers said “We have a lot of lives that need to be saved out here and know what love is.”

  1. Such a tragedy. What a beautiful way to remember the life of this dear puppy, by providing another dog with a forever home.

  2. This is horrible. And when I read it I couldn’t help but think this person did it because of a hate for pit bulls. I wish people would stop assuming the dogs are born aggressive! People should start being a little bit more tolerant of things they don’t know anything about!
Thanks for sharing this sad story. And what an awesome way to remember the dog and give others new homes.

Poor baby… How dare this boy doing that to this puppy! Puppy didnt ask to be dragged out while driving on the road!!!!.. How would he feel if it wer him being tight to the car and dragging along?? huh maybe ought to give a try see how it felt…I aM so heartbroken and angry over this.

  5. What an awful tragedy that is reported too often. We had the same thing happen in Colorado and I find it hard to understand how someone can be so cruel. There is no rehabilitation for a person that could do such an evil act.
