Street Dog Refuses to Leave Side of Dead Companion

Dog stays with dead companion

A stray dog in China shows complete and absolute devotion to its companion who was tragically run over by a passing vehicle. Desperate for its companion to wake up the dog tries pushing it with its muzzle and using its paw to make it wake up. Someone nearby saw what happened and came to the aid of the little dog and its companion to get them out of the street to a safer place. The kind lady tries to pick up the dead dog to move it but its little friend clearly gets very agitated by this. The little dog did not want the body of its companion moved away and balanced on ts two back legs as the kind person moved them into a sidewalk area. Placed on top of a sewer access tunnel the dog continued to stay be its companions side still trying to wake it up not willing to accept that its friend was no longer going to be by its side.

Time elapses and the kind lady comes back with some food and water to share with the little street dog to try and entice it away from the companion. Even with the offer of food and some water from the kind person the dogs first thought is that its companion is the one that should have it and offers the little piece of sausage to its friend pushing the food closer and closer to its companions mouth. After even more time goes by the kind lady realizes the dog will not leave its companions side and so with some other people find a suitable location and with the street dog looking on bury its companion. The notes that accompany this video say that one dog s male and the other is female and that they are a family I don’t know if they are or not but there is clearly a bond between this dog and its companion that transcends species and the devotion is evident.

I don’t think we will ever know what happened to the little street dog with a broken heart after its friend was buried. Maybe it is better that way. A lesson to all of us about complete devotion to those we care about.
