Every Dog Deserves $1000 Donation to US Shelter Giveaway

Every Dog Deserves...

This spring Pedigree launched a brand new dry food formula. In celebration of this, the Brand will be donating more than 100,000 lbs of food to shelters across the country, because Pedigree believes “Every Dog Deserves” leading nutrition.

Chelsea Kane, of Dancing with the Stars, helped us kick off the “Every Dog Deserves” campaign by delivering the first 10,000 lbs food donation to the Amanda Foundation in Beverly Hills earlier this week.

Throughout the month of June, we’ll be asking dog lovers to help us help dogs by logging onto Facebook, Twitter to tell us why they think “Every Dog Deserves” the very best. For each Like, comment, @reply, re-tweet, photo upload, etc. directed at Pedigree we’ll donate one pound of food (up to 100,000 pounds total). Every single engagement with Pedigree on Facebook and Twitter helps feed dogs.

In order to get the word out Pedigree asked us if we would be interested in writing a post helping them find the perfect US based 501(c)3 shelter to donate a $1,000 check to. I decided there is no way that I could choose but I knew all of our loyal readers and friends would would love to be able to donate a $1,000 check to a shelter that is close to their heart.

Kicking off the campaign

FULFILLING IMMEDIATE NEEDS

In specific response to the urgent need in Joplin, Mo., and surrounding areas, caused by this month’s violent tornado, Mars Petcare US, the makers of PEDIGREE® Food for Dogs, has made an immediate donation of close to 200,000 pounds of food to help feed those pets who have lost their homes. This food is in addition to the 100,000lb commitment made with the Every Dog Deserves campaign. The ASPCA has set up a temporary shelter at the Humane Society of Joplin to tend to the needs of homeless and displaced pets. With all the challenges of rebuilding a community, our hope is that this food will provide comfort and nutrition to the distressed pets in their time of need.

  7. Cherie K. Miller says

I’d donate my Pedigree to the Etowah Valley Humane Society (Cartersville, GA) who’s picked up several tornado dogs from the 4/27 tornado that tore up Cartersville – Hoss & Heidi, Dozer (so named because when the bulldozer came to knock down what was left of his house, he came shooting out from under the foundation) and Monty & Goldie.

  8. On June 1, we had some devastating tornadoes about 5 miles from our house in MA. Our friends at Second Chance Animal Shelter in E. Brookfield are providing pet supplies for the families displaced by the storm. Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in Springfield, MA has set up temporary shelter for families who need to house their pets while they recover. Both shelters could desperately use the money to help our communities while our neighbors rebuild!

  9. Ashley + Prudence says

The shelter that is closest to Prudence and my heart is the Humane Society of Knox County in Thomaston, ME. I adopted Prudence’s kitty brother from the HSKC, and have donated a lot of volunteer time there. They recently had to close up for awhile due to an outbreak of ringworm, but they just reopened and are back in business. I know their goal is to one day build a completely new shelter (the one they are in dates back to the 80s I believe and it quite small) so they can help even more animals. They also started a program last year where they transport in Chihuahuas from over crowded shelters in California (small dogs are always in demand in our are). The HSKC is quite an awesome shelter!

  10. The local shelter I volunteer at ,is a open door shelter. Therefore, every unwanted pet that enters the doors at the WPHS( Western Pennsylvania Humane Society) is accepted. They try very hard to save all lives. At this time they offer 2 for 1 kittens and any cat over 6 months is a free adoption. So I believe it is so important to collect any kind of donation you can get your hands on to help out the shelter. The staff is awesome and always thanks you when you show up to volunteer.

  11. I would give it to our local no kill shelter. The Animal Protective League’s Waggin Tails Shelter in Springfield, IL
