Calming Collars Review

Davinia hanging out in her Calming Collar

About Calming Collars
Our patented Calming Collars are filled with a blend of natural herbs. Our blends were specifically developed to help with certain conditions, like excessive barking, hyper-activity, stress, anxiety and fear due to loud noises, storms and thunder (thunder phobia), separation anxiety and more!

These fabric collars are handcrafted and are filled by hand with a precise, measured amount of dried herbs. Your order will be custom made and shipped quickly, usually in less than a week. The plastic buckle allows you to adjust the collars for a perfect fit.

Our Review:
Within minutes of putting the calming collar on Indiana she was feeling more relaxed put up less resistance to going out for our night walk and overall was her usual happy go lucky self. I really think that Indiana has PTSD at night and has developed a desire not to go out at night. With the calming collar she came when I called her to put her leash on and even walked out the front door on her own.

Indiana showing off her Calming Collar

Davinia who has always been a bit on the nervous side needs the 15 to 20 minutes to allow the herbs to work before she is calm. So today I am having the girls wear their collars all day to see if they make a huge difference for Davinia when we go out for our afternoon walk. Update: Davinia is currently sprawled out on the floor resting. Usually at this time of day I can find her sleeping in a chair or she would be jumping up to try and get some eggs since I just made myself breakfast and she loves eggs. She is still resting on the floor event though Indiana is here to remind me I should give her some. I would be so happy if Davinia sleeps all day today. She really needs some uninterrupted sleep. I am wondering if the herbs inside of the calming collar are repelling the fleas you all know we have been having the worst time with and that is why Davinia is able to sleep right now. I am really excited that I now have calming collars for Davinia and Indiana and they will be wearing them in the situations that are appropriate.

The herb blend is rather pungent so if you personally have a problem with strong smells this is something to take into consideration. Apparently neither Davinia nor Indiana have any issue with the herbs because they have never tried to take the collars off and its not like they are really secured in place to the point they would have any problem getting them off. They did both sneeze the first time I put them on them but they have been just fine since.

I know that we will be using the calming collar for Davinia if I bring them to BlogPaws with me as crowds aren’t really her thing but she does like people she just gets overwhelmed. Indiana on the other hand will demand to be pet by everyone. I can think of two other events where I need to bring Davinia with me somewhere that will potentially be stressful for her so I will absolutely put the calming collar on her so she isn’t as stressed.

*Calming Collars are not meant to be used in place of your dogs regular collar they are not meant to have any amount of force applied to them. Your pet should be able to wear their regular collar with tag along with the calming collar.

Calming Collars aren’t just for dogs they are great for Cat Stress as well. I guess they would help calm a feral cat so they can become inside cats as well as helping to calm shelter rescues.

Which Calming Collar Should You Order?

I think the best thing I can do here is to let you watch the video about all the sizes and widths so you can get a better understanding of what they look like and how wide they are. I will say that for us the normal double wide is a bit too thick for Davinia and Indiana so for sure if you have a dog under 15 pounds I would order the single wide collar unless you have an Italian Greyhound or Chinese Crested with a longer neck.

  1. I just visited the site and didn't see anything about using these to calm a “barky” dog. I am intrigued by these.
I am not sure if what size etc for Dakota (I did watch the video, he is a Sheltie but he has a lot of fur)
I like the “dog word” fabric and I follow you everywhere! lol

  2. Our top secret ingredients are lavender, chamomile and balsam — no essential oils or fillers, just the actual dried herbs. We have helped many “barky” dogs be a bit less obsessed — they'll still be a dog and bark if the doorbell rings, but usually you can control them much better. Deb (the Calming Collar Lady)

  3. Just curious–do you know what herbs are used in the collars? Are they the same as herbs used for human anxiety (like lavendar, valerian, and chamomile)? Or something entirely different?

I am not sure if the blend is a secret but it is not discussed anywhere that I was able to find. You can use the contact form to try and find out. This is what I did find. On January 4, 2011 we were issued US patent number D630,387S for our “herbal filled Calming Collar for pets” design. We applied in August of 2008, so these do take a while!

  10. Rudy - The dog with a blog says

I'm not finding any thing about “herb mixtures” on the site – but we would choose a calming collar for Rudy.
And I think I like the “dog word” fabric.

Barky dogs are usually stressed or anxious and the calming collars will help with that. It will not stop they from barking at danger or other dogs it will take the edge off the situation though.

  15. The calming collar in evergreen scrolls or bones on tan might be just the thing to help my Rory in the car. He loves when we get someplace but carries on something awful during the ride. Barking, screaming whenever another car or, heanven forbid, a truck comes towards us. This just might help.

Thank for the chance to win one.
