Dog Cookie Review and Giveaway from Barking District

About Barking District Bakery

Thank you for showing interest in Barking District Bakery, located in the dog-loving city of San Francisco, CA.  The founder, Scott Hale, has personally created all the recipes and all of our bakery products are made in small batches.  We specialize in creating “SuperCookies” for dogs, treats made of ingredients that are believed to have various “Super” benefits.  Specifically, our SuperCookies include ingredients that help fight some cancers, tumor growth, urinary tract infections, tooth decay, inflammation of arthritis, and nausea to name a few.  We believe dogs deserve the same quality and nutritionally relevant food as we eat ourselves.

Meet Penny the Cavalier behind Barking District Bakery. She is a Puppy Mill Rescue. When she was adopted she needed a little extra help nutritionally to blossom into the sweet girl she is today. Her daddy decided to start baking her some yummy very healthy treats and Barking District Bakery was created.

The Uprooted and Roasted Snap Cookies were Davinia’s  favorite. Indiana probably liked the ones with Nuttin But a Hound Round the best but it is too hard to tell with her since a cookie to her is special no matter what. She loves food.

I opened the Uprooted not sure what what they would think but hoping they would at least try them. Oh my goodness Davinia’s eyes bugged right out of her head when she smelled them. She took the cookie out of my hand and right to her pillow to eat it. Didn’t get a picture of her eyes bugging out but got a few of her eating the cookie that I am posting here. Not sure which flavor is Penny’s favorite but you have new fans here for sure since Davinia is the one you have to win over when it comes to food and treat. I was actually surprised at how much Davinia likes these cookies considering she has been turning down most non protein based treats and food since she was attacked (I think her body needs the extra protein but these are so packed with healthy things her body can use to help heal that she LOVED them).

Davinia: It takes a lot of concentration to eat a cookie this yummy.

Uprooted & Roasted Snap: Well integrated with visible chunks of root vegetables, these whole wheat cookies contain roasted sweet potato, carrot, and ginger. Sweet potatoes provide antioxidants that may help fight some cancers and can aid in reducing inflammation of arthritis. Carrots, as our Mothers always told us, help maintain healthy eyes and are also believed to promote cell growth and assist in fighting infections. Freshly minced ginger helps digestion and calms the stomach. Lastly, a dusting of dried parsley, a natural breath freshener, is added as a healthy decoration! Nearly out of the ground, these roasted root vegetable treats are drool worthy. These cookies in particular would be great to have on hand if you have a dog in the family that gets car sick. The ginger will calm their stomachs and the treat before the car ride will help coat their tummy so it isn’t empty.

Davinia and Indiana both loved the Pumpkindoodle cookies as well who wouldn’t love them with these ingredients. Real pumpkin, cinnamon, black strap molasses, and quinoa come together to make naturally healthy treats we call Pumpkindoodles, our canine version of snickerdoodle cookies. Pumpkin shaped and dusted with cinnamon, these low-fat dog treats are rich in disease-fighting nutrients that may act as an anti-inflammatory and may prevent tumor growth, as well as provide a great source of fiber. Pumpkin with all its fiber is good for dogs whose tummy’s tend to get very upset due to nerves or food issues.

Davinia: Yummy! This cookie smells so good.
