Brigades of therapy dogs will be hitting the road Friday February 28th with their owners to visit schools and Children’s Hospitals across the country to read Dr. Seuss Books. To partake in the Dr. Seuss gun carefree spirit we decided to share some fun things you can do at home with your little ones. Today we are going to share 3 Dr. Seuss Decorations ideas with you and next week we will be sharing some crafts, snack ideas, and enrichment activities. Make sure to check back regularly so that you don’t miss any of our fun Dr. Seuss inspired activities. If you are going to be working as a therapy dog team and reading Dr. Seuss books with children we would love to know about it so that we can put together a post and share the inspiration the dogs brought to the children.

Are you looking for some fun and frugal Dr. Seuss Decorations? If so, these nifty name holders are the perfect craft for you. Great for setting out at your next Seuss themed party, these nifty name holders not only serve as name cards, but treat and favor buckets as well. They are easier to make than they may look, so take a peek below and find out how to craft your very own!

Nifty Name Holders

Supplies needed for your Dr. Seuss Decorations:
Small white favor buckets
Pipe cleaners
Pom poms
Wood craft sticks
Construction paper
Scissors
Craft glue

We were able to find all of the above materials at our local dollar store. You can find the small white buckets in the wedding favor supply aisle in packs of three for just $1. The remainder of the supplies can be found in the basic craft supply aisle.

Directions:
1. Begin by wrapping a red pipe cleaner around your bucket. This will make the bucket resemble the Cat in the Hat’s hat. We wrapped three red pipe cleaners around, cut them to length, and twisted them on tightly to secure them.
2. Next, fill the bucket with treats of your choice or a weighted filler such as rice.
3. Stick a colorful wooden craft stick in the filler. Cut a rectangle out of your construction paper and attach it with glue to the stick. This is where you will write the name of the guests and create the name holder.
4. Add a Truffula tree embellishment. To do this take a small length of pipe cleaner and glue a pom pom to the end of it. Stick the pipe cleaner in the filler.

Your nifty name holder is now ready to be used! Set one at each place setting or arrange them at a buffet table with party favors for your guests. These are a great way to pack a lot of Seuss in a small little décor piece.

Head to your dollar store and gather your supplies so you can give this Dr. Seuss decorationsproject a try!
