Men love dogs too… Dogs are greater than football

dog with football

It’s that time of the week again, welcome to another Men Love Dogs Too! Facebook and Twitter, and all other social medias, have been abuzz this past weekend with message after message about the (Big giant football game whose name is copyrighted so we can’t use it). Now, this doesn’t really phase all of us down under, I’m sure there are some down here who love it, but I imagine some people don’t even know what it is.

The best part of the (Big giant football game whose name is copyrighted so we can’t use it) though, in not just mine, but also a lot of opinions I’ve heard, are the commercials. Companies shell out millions of dollars for 30 seconds of air time during the event, and the ads have to be creative, exciting and have the potential to go viral. The ads all appeal to a different audience, some companies know how to play their cards right.

My favorite ad of the “Big Football Game” this year is from Volkswagen, I did see it before the Big weekend though. It would have been hard to try and think of something to top their ad from last year. The ‘Vader Kid’ ad has over 50 million views on YouTube, that’s a pretty decent amount for a year. Titled, ‘The Dog Strikes Back’, the 2012 Volkswagen commercial pays homage to its predecessor, not only in title (a play on ‘The Empire Strikes Back’) but also showing a brief scene towards the end featuring… Actually, I won’t spoil it for you though!

The ad has almost 4 million hits at the time of writing this article, and features a lovable mutt named Bolt, who just needs to lose a bit of weight! If you haven’t seen it, I recommend checking it out. (YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-9EYFJ4Clo)

Now, where was I? Oh right… The point of this article? Most people would assume that being a guy, I would be focused on the sports, beer and cheerleaders, but hey… I’m a dog person… So give me an ad featuring one and I’m completely yours…

I’ve always wanted a Volkswagen beetle..

What are some of your favorite (Big giant football game whose name is copyrighted so we can’t use it) ads?

* Note from Two Little Cavaliers we were told several weeks ago that you are not allowed to use the name of the “Big Football Game” in any form without permission if that mention appears on a website that bring in even one penny of revenue from ad placements. I can’t see how that could actually be true with so many mentions of the game all over the internet or why they would want to stop people from talking about the game using it proper name. The NFL does own the domain though it points back to the NFL official website so seems a waste. You would think with how much they want to protect that name that they would actually use it online themselves with a really nice looking website devoted to all things “big Football Game”. Just saying.
