Military Dogs Honored on Veterans Day

Dogs that worked in Iraq and in the Pentagon and the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, will be visiting the offices of the House Veterans Affairs Committee on Monday. The recipients include Roselle, a seeing-eye dog that led its handler to safety during the attack on the World Trade Center. Roselle through the chaos and terror of that day was able to stay calm and therefore get her person out of the building. When Firefighters who were racing up the building would pass by them they asked the man if he needed help and he always declined saying Roselle was helping him and that they should find others who really needed their help.

Another dog being honored in the ceremony is a a dog that served in Iraq and is now retired from active front line duty helping to comfort soldiers with post-traumatic stress.
