Drug Sniffing Dog Visits Schools

Regan, the Golden Retriever is a dog that is part of the Drug Enforcement Administration team. Part of her job includes visiting with students to demonstrate how the DEA dogs sniff out drugs. Her most recent school visit was was part of Red Ribbon Week, designed to reinforce the anti-drug message. Red Ribbon week which is celebrated in schools across the country during the last week in October asks students to pledge to live their lives drug free.

By bringing the sniffer dogs into schools its shows another side of drug enforcement and prevention. The students get to watch as Regan searches for and points out the drugs and then gets a special reward. They experience the efficiency that dogs bring to the job of finding the drugs and see that they might be able to hide drugs from their parents or teachers but the minute the dogs are brought out the drugs will be found and they will be in trouble.
