Not all dogs that have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan are specially trained sniffer dogs. Some like Rose are therapy dogs and along just to hang out with the soldiers offer them encouragement and boost moral. Rose visits with soldiers after a long mission to help them debrief or to say hello when they are wounded.
The soldiers loved to cuddle with her and spend time playing with her to help get their minds off of what was going on around them. They say she was a great listener and never told their secrets to anyone and never judged them when they were having a bad day or loosing faith. She was there for them and for that they are very appreciative.
