Thieves Steal Money Meant for Guide Dog Program

Vincci Li is the marketing and communication specialist for B.C. Guide Dog Services and it sister program Autism Support Dogs. The organizations cannot believe the donation box the kind where you put the coin in and it spins around has been taken from the middle of Surrey Mall in British Columbia Canada.

Li said the bin was secured to a pillar with a lock and chain the thieves managed to take the donation receptacle and leave the the padlock and chain. This is a big loss to the organizations as this is their only large donation box in all of Canada and was very popular with children who would as their parents for coins so they could watch them spinning around. The organizations raised more than $25,000 through all coin collection programs last year. It is unknown how much money was in the container as they only empty it once every few months.

Unfortunately they do not know the exact time and date that the theft occurred so mall security is trying to sort through hours of video footage which will then be turned over to police. If you know anything about the missing colelction box which was blue and covered in pictures of the service dogs please call 604-940-4504.
