Generally hearing about a new Malware, Virus, or Trojan Horse instills the fear of whatever higher being you look to for guidance. You run around trying to find the latest AntiVirals that protect against the impending threat and tell everyone on Facebook not to open such and such email, visit so and so website, or click on a picture of Mr what’s his name. Reading about the newest Virus though will make animal lover LAUGH.
Remember that app called DogWars we told you about back in April. Well the already controversial and in my opinion disgusting app has seen an older version hijacked and pumped full of malware, according to Irfan Asrar of Symantec. Unlike some other trojans, the one found in the hacked version of Dog Wars is designed to shame the person that downloaded it rather than cause harm to their smartphone. When installed, the Malware known as Android.Dogowar injects a package known as “Dogbiet” into the the Android code, triggering a background service called “Rabies.” Which makes your device send SMS messages to all contact list entries with text reading, “I take pleasure in hurting small animals, just thought you should know that,” The Malware also signs the users up for text alerts from an animal rights group. The group claims to not be behind this Malware attack but word on the street is that they do applaud the person or people responsible for doing it.
While I would never condone hacking for any reason. I think it is pretty funny that those who choose to play such a horrible game infect their SmartPhone with the Rabies Virus.
