Peanut
Two weeks ago Peanut a Chihuahua therapy dog for an autistic boy managed to slip out of his house. Instead of the person who found the dog running around trying to find the owners they kept the dog. Only this wasn’t just a dog it was a little boys special friend. I can’t say that the dog was specially trained or not as none of the articles I have read about Peanut say one way or the other but it matters little because any dog could help in small ways.
The family went to the police after Peanut went missing and the police had several leads they were working on. At the same time news of Peanut’s disappearance made news headlines and someone came forward to help the family get a new dog from the same place peanut came from. It took a few days for everything to come together in the mean time Peanut was still missing and so the family decided getting another dog for their son was the best thing they could do because their son was refusing to eat. The new dog arrived last week and for the boy it was love at first site. But Peanut was still missing and Police were closing in on the person they believed had stolen the dog. A call came to the family asking if the reward money was still available and that if it was the person had the dog in their possession. The family told the caller to please bring Peanut home. Only the police were waiting for the caller to arrest them and ensure Peanut made it home. The arrest was made and Peanut is safe and sound at home.
Unfortunately Peanut did not do well in the whole ordeal and is now skittish around the family and will not go near the autistic boy when he tries to draw the dogs attention. Peanut will likely need time and patience to feel secure at home again after being a pawn to blackmail money out of a family that was hurting. Hopefully Peanut will be back to normal soon and will now have a dog friend to play with.
