Service Dog: Ex Military Dog Getting New Hips

One discharged Marine who served 2 tours of duty in Iraq sniffing out bombs needs help. This seven year old hero who now lived is a forever home with a loving family has arthritis of the hip and needs treatment in order to alk without pain. He will be given stem cell therapy to try and regenerate the cells in his damaged joints. MediVet-America will be providing the treatment and an Oregon State University veterinarian will perform the procedure.

Stem cell therapy is a drug-free treatment which can be used to help dogs, cats and horses suffering from osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia and tendon and cartilage injuries.

How it works

The veterinarian removes fat tissue from the animal, separates and activates the stem cells, and then injects them into the affected area. The technology allows the animal’s own stem cells to heal themselves. Basco should be back to normal within three to four weeks of the treatment.
