Dog Jumped From Second-Floor Window During Thunderstorm / Pet Bloggers Blog Hop

Lottie is a rescue dog who was taken in by the Valentino family in 2002 after she was taken from a home where she was kept in a cage outside and would burn her with cigarettes if she barked. With being kept outside in her former life the family believes she developed a deep fear of thunder storms and fireworks. Lottie will become very excited during a thunderstorm and will scratch at a doors and baseboards. Normally Lottie sleeps in the parents’ bedroom, which is where the family placed her Monday night during the storm since they had to leave the home she became so frightened that she chewed through the screen and jumped out the second floor window.

When the family came home and realized what happened they searched for Lottie but could not find her in the dark. The next morning while out searching for the dog a mailman happened to see her in a yard down the block. According to reports they took Lottie to the vet immediately to be evaluated. After jumping 20-feet to the concrete below and spending the night outside, dehydrated and in the rain, Lottie only came out with a bruise to her foot and a chipped tooth.
