Pet Bloggers Blog Hop – Police Dog Nabs Carjacker

The police surrounding the house where the suspect was found.

Two police cars, multiple helicopters and more than a dozen officers on foot joined the pursuit of three carjackers in South Africa. However it was the single dog from the canine unit named Jason who finally got one of the men. The drama started shortly before 10am when three men confronted a woman outside her home took her ring and her car and fled.

Police were notified and several different squads were called in to help get the men. The hijackers eventually abandoned the vehicle fleeing into nearby houses. Jason, not impressed with the car chase, immediately went into action when the carjackers fled on foot. He ran through the yards, chasing after the fleeing men. In going after the men Jason entered another dog’s yard. The dog resting in the yard lunged at Jason, biting his his belly.

The bite didn’t get in the way of finding the suspect as the police dog Jason. Jason ran into the house, and found the suspect who was hiding behind a couch. Once the suspect was arrested Jason’s handlers took him to a vet for a check-up, and police sources said his wound was not bad.

  1. Carrie Boyko says

I’m glad dogs are able to serve in the many ways they do. I still cringe at stories like this just as I did when I watched Lassie as a child and worried for her safety in some situations. I’ve been told I should do therapy work with Oliver. Perhaps that would not be so scary….one day.

  2. Just goes to show, we can always count on our canine friends!

  3. Wow! What a story! Hope Jason is getting some rest while his bite wound heals.

  4. Hi Y’all!

Just stopped to say thanks for another Saturday Blog Hop!

My Human loved the police dog story! I could have told her all about the stuff we know how to do if she’d only asked me! Sounds to me like Jason’s job is just rousing game of “hide and seek”. Got to admire his focus! He didn’t let any other dog spoil his fun!

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog
