Simple Healthy Dog Treats Using Buddy Fruits

coconut raspberryI am sure you have see those squeezable fruit snacks in the produce section of your local grocery store. If you are anything like me you just really aren’t sure what to make of them. The idea of a squeezable fruit is well not completely appealing. Then one day when I was at the store I decided that I wanted fruit but it was getting late and I knew that when I got home I wouldn’t want to deal with cutting plating and then cleaning up so I decided to buy 2 of the Buddy Fruit Snacks in a flavor that I thought I would be able to deal with. Since I didn’t need to cut or wash anything I was able to have it on the way home. It was exactly what I needed. So the next time I was at the store I picked up a few more not realizing that not only do they have pure fruit ones but they have ones with milk and coconut milk. As soon as I figured that out I knew they would make perfect frozen treats for the dogs. And boy was I right! The girls LOVE them and told me I had to share them with you so that you could make them for your dogs too.

Simple Healthy Dog Treats Using Buddy Fruits
You are going to say "Hey why didn't I think of that!" when you see the instructions. These are so simple to make. They are healthy and add something special to your dog's diet. Ready? Here goes!
Author:
Cuisine: Dog Treats
Recipe type: Dog Treats
Prep time:
Total time:
Ingredients
  • 2 pouches of Buddy fruit
  • I used The Raspberry Coconut as the base and added Apple Cinnamon on top. But you can literally use any of the Buddy Fruits you think your dog will enjoy.
Instructions
  1. Find a fun shaped ice cube tray and rinse it out to make sure there is no dust or bugs after sitting in your drawer or shelf for months (we know how it is).
  2. Squeeze one flavor of Buddy Fruits into the tray covering the entire ice cube mold or only halfway. We did halfway and then added a second flavor on top.
  3. Make sure to tap it down between flavors and then at the end as there will be air bubbles specially if you are using an ice cube tray with a special shape.
  4. Put into the freezer on a flat surface and let freeze. We left our in overnight for a treat the next afternoon.
  5. Once the treats are frozen I suggest putting them in a zip lock bag or other freezer safe container to help keep them longer without getting freezer burn.

Make sure you give these to your dogs either outside or on a surface you can clean easily. Since these are all fruit they will melt and with those little or big tongues pushing them around the floor (they will not stay int heir bowl for long) make sure you can clean whatever surface they can pick them up and carry them onto. As for serving size well.. that is up to you. We only have one at a time but for bigger dogs you could give them another one. Not that there is technically anything wrong with eating more I just limit frozen treats because they are so cold and don’t want tummy upsets or anything.

PS if you have any leftover Buddy Fruits they don’t last very in the fridge very long but make a great topper for their kibble just squeeze it out right on top of their food!
