Shopping Spree at #TractorSupply for Shelter Pets

As a huge supporter of Animal Rescues company wide Tractor Supply thought it would be a fun way to spread the love by inviting a few Bloggers to go on a shopping spree for their favorite shelter and rescue in order to share all of the amazing things that #TractorSupply has to offer. Tractor Supply is practically our neighbor! If I am looking for some treats or our auto-ship food didn’t arrive before I have to leave on a trip and I am worried the girls might run out before I get back I make a quick run to pick up something to hold them over until I get home. It is also the place I go when I am looking for the High Quality pet products shelter pets need to get them started on the right track.

Two Little Cavaliers Cause a Scene
Even with my semi regular visits Davinia and Indiana had never been inside of the store! What better time to make that happen and show that Tractor Supply isn’t just for Farm Animals and Farm Dogs and Cats but for all Pets large and small. We made quite the entrance.

Maybe it is their appearance or the fact that I put them in the cart and everyone thought that they were puppies or maybe because they are little? Whatever it was you would have thought that no one in the store had ever seen little dogs before! We made quite the scene at the local #TractorSupply The only time we weren’t making a scene was when we were picking up cans of cat and dog food for the shelter animals. We heard a rumor that along with all of the other amazing brands available in the store that Dog For Dog Treats are now available. Some of our friends found their stores stocked but ours only had one bag so we figured we would leave that and opted for Tractor Supply’s Exclusive 4Health Brand that comes in Kibble and cans and is a fraction of the price of similar quality brand names. That meant that even though the Gift Card Tractor Supply sent me had been used up on a shopping spree with Shelter Dog Banjo I was able to get quite a few cans of food plus some toys for the cats to make into Holiday Gift Bags.

I am not sure how two little dogs could cause such a ruckus when a visit to Tractor Supply could bring you face to face with a Baby Donkey in a shopping cart! If you don’t already you need to follow Tractor Supply on Instagram! You never know who or what they might share.

Shelter Dog Banjo’s Very Special Day
Several weeks ago our local county run shelter was inundated with dogs being dropped off by their owners, county code violations, and bad timing of finally getting a big group of dogs out of not so great situation. Our local shelter has had 23 kennels for dogs and they were already full with a dozen more on the way. What that means is Monday morning space would be made for those coming in. A very bad day for long time residents and a horrible day for our shelter director. I have been to several adoption events held at Tractor Supply so I know that Tractor Supply Company and staff love to have the shelter dogs come and visit the store so I messaged our Shelter Director on Facebook and asked if she would meet me at #TractorSupply with a friend or two that could use some exposure and a day out of the shelter. She decided Banjo would join us. What she didn’t know was that Banjo was going on a BIG shopping spree.

At first he was a bit unsure of what was going on and then we got to the food aisle and I asked this sweet boy what flavor food he wanted. He started sniffing the bags and decided on a big bag of 4Health Salmon and Sweet Potato not a flavor the Shelter Dogs get very often but apparently a shelter favorite both easy on the stomach and great for the coat! Once the bag of food went into the shopping cart and he realized the cart was coming with him his entire demeanor changed.

He was a happy boy out on an adventure and he was calling the shots. Our next stop was the treat aisle where he picked up a big bag of chew bones to keep himself and his shelter friends occupied for a bit and it was of to the toy aisle. He got 2! An un-stuffed fox and something that looked a little hardier for his big teeth. But we weren’t quiet done. He smelled another bag of treats that he decided he needed to pick up. He wouldn’t budge until we put it in his cart. Next stop collars. I pulled out a pretty blue one to try on him and see if he approved. It was a perfect fit right off the shelf. Next stop was a comfy bed for him to sleep on that would be easy to throw in the wash when it got dirty. He found the perfect bed. Don’t worry! During his shopping spree he made time to stop and say hello to everyone we met at the store. He even had some hugs and kisses for a young girl before he would let us get online to check out.

Super Easy Holiday Gift for your Local Shelter. Fill a gift bag with a can of food with an easy open top and a toy for the shelter pet. Small cat toys come in several per pack and you can mix and match. You can add a rope toy or tennis ball to a can of dog food and make a shelter pet’s day! Easy to do and a very special treat for the shelter pets that rarely get canned food! For the dogs instead of a toy you could buy a big box or bag of bones or chews and put one of those in each bag. Tractor Supply has all sorts of goodies and at a great price.
