6 DIY Holiday Gifts for Your Dog

Do you want to give your dog some homemade love this holiday season? It is easier than you think! You don’t have to be super crafty, the best cook, or even a master carpenter to make something that your dog will love.



1. Edible ornaments.
Make your own ornaments using a DIY dog cookie/biscuit recipebut turn the heat way down on the oven 200 degrees or less! You will need to bake for quite some time check every hour but 2 1/2 hours is about what you will need. Once the biscuit is baked and dried, you can some ribbon as a hanger on the ornament. Just poke a hole and run it through. Chances are, your dog will gladly devour it before it makes its way onto the tree. The ornaments would be very hard but safe should your dog decide to knock down he tree and play with the ornaments.

2. A festive bandana.
Buy some holiday fabric at the local craft shop. Find something super soft yet durable. Cut it into a 12 by 12 inch square (use 18 by 18 inch for larger dogs) and fold it into a bandana shape. Tie it around your dog for some frugal and festive holiday fun.

3. Holiday chew toy.
Grab some soft and stretchy holiday fabric or socks. Cut them into strips, and then braid them together into a tight, thick rope. When you are done, you will have a stretchy and durable dog toy your dog will love to play games with.

4. Frozen treats.
You can puree pumpkin or squash and place it in ice cube trays for some fun and frugal frozen treats. Once they are solid, serve them to your dog. She will love licking and playing with them until they are soft enough to devour.

5. Collar Bow Ties.
You can take holiday themed scrap fabric and make your own holiday bow ties. Just make a bow and tie it with a smaller scrap onto your dog’s collar. This is the perfect gift to make and give your dog before taking holiday photos! Your dog will feel like a king or queen with their new collar accent!

This is as easy as it seems. All you need is some fleece, a pair of scissors, and the ability to tie a knot.
