All Natural Skunk Remover

Striped Skunk - All Natural Skunk Remover
I live in the country and every time I pass a skunk on the side of the road or smell their distinct odor I think about what would happen if one got into our yard. While the chance of a skunk getting into our fenced in yard and stuck inside when the dogs all of a sudden come running out the door is slim there is a chance that a skunk could be wandering around our property minding its own business when the dogs run out in the yard. That equals scared skunk which means the skunk would probably spray. Not a great situation and considering the fact that if it happens I am not going to want to take the time to Google it. I figured I would research now and share it with all of you in case you ever need it. I am really smell adverse tough so I have no idea if I will even be able to stand to be near a dog that was sprayed without being nauseous but even second counts. I hope I never need this information and that you never need it either but Book mark this post, share it with your friends.

Uh oh! Did your dog get into a confrontation with a skunk? If so, you might be wondering how to get rid of that awful smell! Take a peek below at how to make your own all natural skunk remover; perfect for taking away the smell a spray from a skunk leaves. This mixture is easy to make, chemical free, and safe for all dogs. Here is how to get started.

Ingredients needed:
1/4 cup basic hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup basic baking soda
1 Tablespoon of regular Dawn dish soap
2 gallons of warm water

As you can see, these are all items readily available to you at your local grocery store. You may even have these supplies on hand already, which is even better.

Directions:
1. In your bathtub or an outside tub, add the ingredients in with the warm water. Mix well until a sudsy solution is formed.
2. Try to coax your dog into the bath. Lather the mixture on his fur well, being sure to get the undercoat as well. DO NOT apply the mixture to the dog’s face and take care to avoid the eyes.
3. Scrub the mixture into the fur and allow it to set for five minutes.
4. Now, rinse well using warm water. At this time, you can rinse the head and face as well since you are just using plain water.
5. Pat dry. Check to make sure you rinsed well and there is no soap residue on the skin. Rinse again if needed.

You may need to give this bath twice before you see perfect results. However it should do the job and take away the skunk smell. Hopefully, this will be the last time you need to create this skunk removing bath but if it’s not, at least you know a great recipe to try now!

  4. I hope I never need this, but I wrote the recipe down since I hate the idea of skunk spray… after coming VERY close to kicking one while jogging at night years ago, I am quite timid of them! Thankfully, no spray that time… Thank you for posting this. 🙂
