5 Dog Safe Houseplants Plus Important Tips About Bringing Outdoor Plants Inside for the Winter

With school about to start for so many that means the cooler months on their way. Fall means lots of vivid bright colors but once winter hits things get pretty desolate looking. Bringing plants indoors not only helps bring color to your home but adds much needed fresh air to a home that often has to be sealed for months at a time. Bringing houseplants into your space is a great way to offer color and air quality; you just want to be careful that your plant choices are pet friendly. Of course you will want to make sure that your pet doesn’t eat the plant.

No matter how safe the plant is it will probably upset their tummy a bit so you will want to keep an eye out the first few days to ensure no one is having an extra snack. Another thing to consider is if the plant has been out in the yard where your dog or other animals could have found it a nice place to go potty either re-pot the plant or wash the container and spray with a good stain and odor remover. If it has been outdoors chances are that there will be grass starting to grow in the pot. Make sure you pull it along with any weeds that have sprung up. The last thing you want to happen is to bring the plant inside only to have your dog think it is a new potty spot!
