New App Helps You Get Moving and Raise Money for Animal Rescue
That sounds like a pretty sweet deal. You download the new ResQwalk app from the Apple Store, put on your sneakers, and head out the door for a walk or run. Those miles you accumulate get added together and the money is sent directly to the Paypal Account of your shelter or rescue of choice. Sounds simple enough right?

People don’t always have time to volunteer with their local animal rescue, or the space to welcome a dog or cat into their home. Now, with ResQwalk, they have a fun, easy way to contribute to a great cause while doing something they’re already doing – walking.”
Each week ResQwalk announces a donation pool and, in order for an organization to receive a portion of the pool, its supporters simply need to check -‐ in to the app when they go for a walk with their dog. At the end of the week donations are paid out to the various rescues proportionally to the total distance walked.
Alone you might not raise much but if you get 5 friends to go for a walk at the park or go on a hike you certainly will be building up credit for your local Animal Rescue. Even if it is just you taking your dog out for a walk it still matters! It matters to your dog getting extra fresh air and exercise, it matters to you because you are helping your dog feel good, you are creating a bond with your dog by spending time with them, and you are raising money for your local or favorite Animal Rescue. Everyone wins.

We are house sitting next week to take care of Grandma and Grandpa’s dog and cat. That means we will be going on daily walks in the mountains. So why not use those walks to raise money for the local shelter? Everyone wins. Davinia and Indiana get to go for walks in the mountains, Whisper wins because we will stay out longer to accumulate more steps and raise more money. I am sure even Dora the cat will get in on the action and come for a walk with us.
