Extraordinary Nutrition Redefined Love Your Pet Their Best #HillsPet

That is what Hill’s® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution is all about, it’s not about withholding love, it’s about redefining love. So often we as pet parents think that the easiest and most immediate way to show our pets we love them is to give them a treat. Sure the occasional treat is fine but we need to make a conscious effort to ensure that everything we give our dogs or cats has nutritional benefits for them. For the first few years of Davinia and Indiana’s life they saw their grandpa very infrequently so it really was not an issue when he wanted to spoil them with not so healthy treats. A few days of grandpa time once maybe twice a year was not going to hurt anyway especially because in the beginning Davinia was underweight. But as our lives changed and the years went by we moved closer and closer to grandpa and we had to teach him to give them less of the bad stuff and to use what we brought with us and even then that they only needed small pieces.

When you realize your pet is “overweight” and you have to restrict their food you feel like it’s depriving them of your love. Grandpa Two Little Cavalier would complain that he only saw Davinia and Indiana occasionally and his treats weren’t going to hurt them. It took a lot of convincing but now he understands that a fat Cavalier does not equal a happy one in the long term. We have convinced him that Extraordinary Nutrition is what they need to stay healthy at 8 and 10 years old. There have been days or even weeks over their lifetimes that both Davinia and Indiana have had to go on a diet nothing excessive that a few days of fewer snacks between meals didn’t take care of. I still felt guilty eve though it wasn’t technically my fault any of the times that they gained a bunch of weight really fast. It generally coincided with an extended stay at a boarding facility or kennel because I had to go out of town and I wasn’t explicit enough with my feeding instructions. It happened again just recently and I felt really guilty for not being more specific about what I mean. I think that the girls got 3 times as much food as they needed each day. IT was a very high quality food but too much of a good thing is still too much.

Extraordinary Nutrition

We know that there are so many dogs and cats out there in need of real help where the pounds came on slowly over the course of a winter or due to an injury or personal issue with the family. These pets need help that will take time to correct and a food and plan that can help them achieve that. Hill’s® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution is Extraordinary Nutrition to help you show your love while making a change for your pet that will help them live a longer happier life.

The Staff, Scientists, and Veterinarians at Hill’s love their pets just as much as we do and they know that we don’t want to feel like we are depriving our pets of anything even when they need to go on a diet. They also know that if they give you the option to give your dog (or cat) dry food, wet food, and treats that you will feel like you are able to spoil your pet because you are offering them the same things as before only this now it is Extraordinary Nutrition that was formulated to help them shed the pounds.

  1. Many people don’t consider their pet’s weight when they continually sneak them a treat. Good to see a company bringing this issue to light.

Both of my dog’s weight fluctuates quite a bit. They are both a little over at the moment.

  7. So many people think giving treats is a sure way into the heart, so many people even do this with my kids!! I always say that years from now a kid {or even an animal} will remember and connect with someone that played with them and shared memories and not one that gave a treat.

  10. I know it’s so easy to feel like we’re “treating” our pets when we sneak them extra food but… just like with our kids we can find other ways to “reward” them that doesn’t lead to overeating. It’s great to have this diet doggy food for them to return to normal healthy weight!

  17. Our dog has started gaining weight, which is bad because he already has a hip problem from someone hitting him with a car. Putting him on a diet just seems so mean, though. We need to try Hill’s.

  18. AHHHH! I am totally sending this post to my FIL. He ‘adopted’ our min pin a couple years ago and my min pin went from a healthy, frisky, fun dog to an overweight tub who doesn’t do anything. 🙁

  19. Thanks for the reminder to watch my dog’s weight. My dog is at a good weight as far as I can tell. He’s a mixed breed so it’s hard to tell what his ideal weight is but he looks healthy and is around a normal weight for the breeds he has in him.
