Homemade Dog Treats – Baked Zucchini Dog Biscuits

Homemade Dog Treats - Baked Zucchini Dog Biscuits 1

Happy weekend! With everyone snowed in and temperatures below zero around the country I thought we would share a way to warm your house and home and in the process make a special and healthy treat for your dog. Baked Zucchini Dog Biscuits anyone?

Your dog will go crazy for these homemade dog treats! These baked biscuits are slightly crunchy on the outside and are soft and chewy on the inside. If you’re trying to introduce more vegetables into your pet’s diet, these treats are a great way to add zucchini when a dog wouldn’t otherwise be interested in eating it. Your dog will thank you for making these yummy dog treats!

The batter used in this recipe can be very sticky, so grease your pan, work surface, and hands before handling it.

Total time:
Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup grated zucchini (about 1 medium-sized zucchini)
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the zucchini, water, and molasses. Combine the flour and oats in a separate bowl.
  3. Mix the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring to thoroughly combine.
  4. Grease a baking pan, your work surface, and hands. Spread the batter out onto the work surface to about an inch thickness.
  5. Use a cookie cutter to cut shapes from the batter, then transfer to the baking sheet using a spatula. Use a straw to create small holes in the biscuits if desired, as seen in the photo.
  6. Bake the biscuits at 350°F for 35-45 minutes, or until the begin to brown.
  7. Remove the biscuits from the oven and allow them to fully cool before serving to your pet.

The zucchini fruit is low in calories approximately 15 calories per about 3 and a half ounces of fresh zucchini. Zucchini also contains folate, potassium, and vitamin which means it is a great addition to your dogs diet.

  14. Fabulous recipe. We have so much zucchini coming out right now that I didnt know what to do with it all.

I added some carrot to one batch and the dogs just LOVE IT.
I actually add less flour and put them in the freezer to make them crunchy. Makes a nice dog popsicle for the summer time 😀
