Girls Gone Wild – Aging Pets

This post is sponsored by Natural Solutions for Life Natural Stride

Sometimes it is best to start at the very beginning. For those of you who have been around from the beginning you know that Two Little Cavaliers started as an outlet for me during Davinia’s recovery after being viciously attacked. For in depth information on what happened you are welcome to read Davinia’s Story. For the rest of you to make a long story short Davinia was confined to her crate for weeks and barely able to walk. She lost a lot of muscle, had her hip broken, and had damage to nerves in several parts of her body. When she did go out it was only with the help of a sling. In the beginning she couldn’t even stand on her own. Each day was a new day with some days better then others. One day I would have to try and bribe her to walk from the end of our driveway to the next door neighbor’s driveway and others she was able with help to walk around the block. As the weeks and months progressed she was able to walk further more often and then eventually was able to walk on the carpet inside with no sling and then for short visits outside without her sling.

Davinia and Indiana - Aging Pets This is a picture from 3 months after Davinia was attacked Indiana is sitting up and Davinia is laying down.

It was a long recovery and while she “looks” perfectly fine to most people the truth is her fine is about 90% of what perfect for her looked like. I am thankful that she survived let alone walking and running around. Her running looks like a mix between bunny hops, a horse galloping and a dog jumping around. And if she stands still too long her back leg starts to shake. She is happy. But for those reason I don’t usually share videos of her. It makes me sad to watch them and know why she walks and runs funny. It also makes me mad but that is another story.

Here is a very rare video of Davinia running that I shared on Instagram. Both Davinia and Indiana appear in the beginning and then it is just Davinia running. You can see her funny running. You can also see that it doesn’t stop her and she is a happy little girl.

The truth is I knew things were going to eventually be ok for her when I saw her a few days after getting attacked while still at the Emergency Vet while she was out in the grass for potty time and with tubes, staples, and stitches everywhere her tail was wagging. But I also knew that as she got older she would need more help both nutritionally to ensure that things go smoothly on the way out because her hip was never reset there was just too much other damage to go back in and perform surgery and once she had healed enough to consider it the decision was made that it would just set her back as her walking was pretty normal.

She also lost muscle that never grew back and that is the more concerning part for me as the years go by. Her joints have to take more when most aging pets joints are in the decline. I always knew she would need a joint supplement I guess I kept putting it off because I didn’t have aging pets I had 2 ogs in the prime of their life. Well, potty time has become more and more of a concern over the past year she seems to be struggling even thought she shouldn’t be. Then a very last minute opportunity came up to work with Natural Solutions for Life and help them promote the launch their NEW Natural Stride Chewable formula. I did some research and their powder formula has been around for several years, comes from natural sources, and has a track record of working. I also had the opportunity to “speak” via twitter with the company and learn more about them and their Natural Stride Product. I decided that this was a great opportunity that we couldn’t pass up. Davinia needs the help now more then ever at 9 years old and Indiana at 8 can also use the help now instead of waiting. Their grandmother was 16 when she went to the Rainbow Bridge so I am hoping for a lot more years with the girls which means we need to make sure their Joints are in tip top shape.

Natural Stride Aging Pets

We started the Natural Stride Chews over the weekend so we don’t have any results to share with you yet but we hope by next month we will. I don’t expect a miracle like the video at the bottom of this post because I know that our situation is different. I just hope that I can help make potty time a little easier and if it helps Davinia so her leg doesn’t shake when she stands still then all the better. For Indiana prevention is half the battle so if we can built up her joints now hopefully she will have no issues as she gets older. And maybe just maybe we will get to have more days when they play together Girls Gone Wild like this:

  1. That must have been a very difficult time for you with Davinia. I’m so glad she came out of it OK. I hope Natural Stride is able to help her stay active and feeling good for her senior years. We only have our arthritic dog on it now, but we are thinking about putting the other senior dogs on it also.

  3. That is absolutely awful that Davinia was attacked. How upsetting. She’s so precious and looks so sweet. You’re wonderful to be taking such great care of her and treating her with such love an kindness. That’s just what pets need. I hope she has success with the hip and joint chews.

  4. Although my boys are just middle aged, Poe is beginning to have trouble with his “knees”, so I am definitely going to ask my vet about adding this to his regiment.

    Your girls are just beautiful.

  8. This is fabulous and I can totally relate. Rodrigo and Sydney were always very active puppies and we bought a huge property so that they would have room to run and play and when they developed arthritis, everything changed. They didn’t want to stop running and playing, but we had to slow them down until we found a joint supplement that works.

Not every supplement is for every dog, but it’s nice to know that there are two option for our families out there. I was excited to learn about Natural Solutions.
