Throw A Dog Themed Party! Free Printables

With National Dog Show right around the corner on Thanksgiving Day we thought it would be fun to create some printables so that you could throw a viewing party!
Have fun with it. Just because you print up some fun Printables doesn’t mean things have to be formal. Slide the invitation under your children’s door before they wake up in the morning to get them in the mood for the day. Or put it on the table next to their cereal bowl.

While you could serve lunch likely most of your guests will not want anything big because they are saving room for dinner. The kids will think brown bagging it at home, and having a picnic on the floor with dad or grandma and grandpa while they watch The National Dog Show is fun. Just cut out the Doggie Bag labels and glue it on the outside of the bag to make it more “festive”.

“It’s Dogs Until 2” on Thanksgiving Day. The National Dog Show on NBC airs from noon – 2 p.m. in all time zones. Celebrating America’s continued fascination with man’s best friend, “The National Dog Show Presented by Purina” is hosted by actor, author and Broadway star John O’Hurley (“Seinfeld,” “Dancing with the Stars”) and expert analyst David Frei, an AKC-licensed judge and host of USA Network’s “The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.” NBC’s Mary Carillo will report from the benching area and inside the show ring.

Quick and Easy Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

½ cup pecans, finely chopped
1 box yellow cake mix
1 cup canned pumpkin
4 eggs
½ cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice (or plain cinnamon)
1 tub cream cheese frosting
24 baking cups

• Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or non-stick pans). Line muffin tins with baking cups.
• In large bowl, add cake mix, pumpkin, eggs, water, oil, and pumpkin pie spice and beat with electric mixer on low speed for about 30 seconds. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally during beating. Fill muffin cups about 2/3 full.
• Bake for 18-24 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center of a cupcake comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes in muffin tins. After 10 minutes, remove muffins from tin and place on cooling rack. Cool completely.
• Frost cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Sprinkle chopped pecans around the edge of the frosted cupcakes, pressing them gently into frosting.
