Locked in at the Animal Shelter Update 3

Rabun Paws 4 Life Food Drive - Animal Shelter

I fully admit that I have been quite for a little bit except on Twitter. I have been trying to get some work done that didn’t get finished earlier today. Working in Social Media means I don’t work 9 – 5pm which has its benefits but it also means I don’t work 9 – 5pm and so when I log into Facebook at 10pm I could find 5 alerts from bloggers trying to get in touch via PM on Facebook asking about a campaign or needing something answered. On a regular day my hours are not normal so add getting locked in an Animal Shelter for the night and well 24 hours of Social Media can be well.. a lot of work. Thank goodness I love everything about what I do including the hours and the interaction at random times of the day and night.

I think I might have just broken drop box with all of the pictures I have taken on my phone tonight that are trying to upload to my computer now that they are synced again. I guess that means pictures are coming in the next update and not this one. Update it is still uploading 🙁 This is taking forever. I guess the connection just isn’t strong enough or powerful enough. There is a reason why I am on Fiber Optics at home and still get frustrated sometimes.

For those of you who have no idea what is going on here is the recap:
I am locked in Rabun Paws 4 Life an Open Admission No Kill Animal Shelter for the night along with the Director and Intake Coordinator and one of the staff members from Habersham County Animal Control and Shelter (a neighboring county). The 3 of them are all in Kennels for the night with dogs that they have chosen to spend the night with. Make sure to check out Rabun Paws 4 Life on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/RabunPaws4LifeShelter

Why am I locked in at the Animal Shelter for the night?

Several weeks ago you might remember that I said Rabun Paws was in desperate need of dog food and in order to raise enough the Shelter Director and his Intake Coordinator would spend the night in the shelter. They were hoping for 75 bags of food at 10lbs or more. But then they realized they needed to up the ante so they said that at 100 bags they would eat out of a dog food bowl and at 125 they would sleep in a kennel with the dogs. They raise that and more so at 150 Habersham said they would spend the night too and at 175 I said I would come and Blog the experience. The community itself raised over 160 bags of food.

So how did I make it at 175?
Through a generous donation from a contact I have at Purina there is another 50 bags coming their way from the ProPlan group.
There was also a special care package sent over by Pet360 with 2 big cases full of samples of dog food.
FreshPet donated 4 boxes of their ready to bake cookies for a good morning treat for the dogs when everyone wakes up. I baked the cookies this morning and I will make the topping fresh in the morning and then share the recipe.

I am going to stop here with this update but please check out the first and second update and stay tuned for more. For now I need to switch to our regularly scheduled program…

Dogs are barking again. Sounds like someone got mad at their kennel mate. But settled right back down.
