As a dog owner, I am always looking out for what’s best for Davinia and Indiana. I want them to not only know they are loved but have things that will help them live long happy lives with me. I try very hard to use as few chemicals around the house as possible, let them sleep in the bed with me, work from home so they are not left in a crate all day, and they even have their own fenced in yard to play in. But when it comes to food there is always that question of is this the right food for them? Can I truth the source of the ingredients used in the food to be clean and nutritionally sound for their little bodies.

Since becoming a Dog Blogger my eyes have been open to just how many dog food brands are out there and the range of quality you can purchase. Davinia and Indiana have eaten a number of different foods. For me it is important that Davinia and Indiana eat a food made from natural high quality ingredients like real meat / fish, fruits and vegetables and a carbohydrate source their bodies can digest. Some brands boast their high protein content or that they are very low in carbohydrates through my research, I learned that even in natural foods, it is important not to have too much or too little of key nutrients.

Hills Ideal Balance Dog Food Source info

Hill’s Ideal Balance delivers natural ingredients in perfect balance for pets’ overall health. How do I know that? Hill’s has a team of researchers, veterinarians, and scientists creating their food to be perfectly balanced for dogs. Balanced pet food is formulated to be the sole source of your pet’s nutrition so it’s the ingredient ratios that are essential to making the food complete. I was also pleased to see that Ideal Balance dry, wet and treats have no corn, wheat or soy and no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. While corn, wheat, and soy don’t seem to present an issue to Davinia and Indiana we know that they do with some of our reader’s dogs.

Hill’s dry dog foods are manufactured locally, right here at home in the USA in their own facilities. Hill’s carefully chooses high-quality ingredients, most of which are sourced from the U.S., with all meat and poultry coming from USDA-inspected facilities. Ingredients sourced outside of the U.S. are monitored just as strictly as those from the U.S., and Hill’s has zero tolerance for Salmonella. Which means they do everything in their power to keep their production facilities from being the source of a potential salmonella issue. In fact, they conduct more than 60 quality checks on every batch of food.

Every single ingredient that goes into Hill’s Ideal Balance dog food can be tracked by batch or ingredient, within 24 hours. To add an extra layer of quality control more than 1000 Salmonella tests are conducted every month.

Comments

  1. I love that this food is sourced and made in the USA, it’s scary all the pet food recalls lately!

  2. It’s good to be able to track ingredients/items for everything these days. The world has gotten alot bigger, but also smaller because you can get almost anything no matter where it is.
