SHELTER ME Released on Redbox Proceeds to Benefit HaloPets Foundation

SHELTER ME

You may have heard something about a PBS Documentary called “Shelter Me,” featuring incredible stories about shelter pets given a second chance. The first episode just came out on DVD today and Redbox has agreed to donate 100% of rental proceeds to the Halo Pet Foundation for all rentals today through April 29. The even more exciting part is that 100% of money raised by Halo Pet Foundation goes TO PETS! Halo (the pet food company) absorbs all admin costs so it truly makes an impact through grants and other programs to help shelters and rescues help dogs and cats in need!

SHELTER ME is a documentary film hosted by Katherine Heigl and sponsored by talk-show host Ellen’s and her pet food company Halo, Purely for Pets©. The film celebrates shelter pets with positive and uplifting stories and shows how people’s lives are improved when they adopt these animals. SHELTER ME, filmmakers go inside a women’s prison to get an inside look at the service dog training program the inmates participate in. Inmates are given the responsibility to train former shelter dogs into highly trained service animals for people with disabilities. We also get to witness the love and bond between a war veteran suffering with PTSD and the dog that gives him a reason to wake up every morning. While the shelter dogs that get into service dog programs are few and far between there are so many more just waiting for the perfect family to come along and adopt them into their family. which is why this film shares with viewers the journey of two stray dogs, from the day they are picked up on the streets and brought to a shelter until the day they become beloved family pets.

About Redbox
Have you ever been to the grocery store or local service station and noticed what looks like a big red vending machine? The one that is getting your attention because it is advertising that movie you missed while in theaters or loved so much you want to rent it? I totally “get” it I have seen Redbox kiosks and even looked through the selection but never rented. Maybe I wasn’t sure what to make of it or the movie selection at the time didn’t interest me. But when a friend emailed me earlier today and asked me to mention this special offer that involved Redbox I figured I needed to learn more. Redbox has rented more than 2.5 billion discs and is available at approximately 43,000 kiosks across 35,500 locations nationwide, including leading grocery, drug and convenience stores, and select Walgreens, Walmart and McDonald’s locations in some markets. Which to me seems like a very legitimate place to rent a movie.
