It’s Puppy Bowl Time again! Time to watch all those adorable rescue puppies run, tumble, slide, and play their way to tv fame and eventual victory out on the field. It’s time to watch the kitty halftime show, chat with @Meepthebird the official Twitter Reporter, watch the Blimp flown by the cutest little hamsters, and of course the hedgehog cheer leading team.
Make sure you tune your tv to Animal Planet starting at 3pm this Sunday and download this awesome Puppy Bowl app so that you can get exclusive coverage and extra fun! The app will go live right in time for the Puppy Bowl thanks to Subaru so download it now to your mobile device or tablet and get ready for game day! The app will work on the original airing and the re-air. The app works in unison with the broadcast – the sounds
within the Puppy Bowl broadcast trigger activity on the app- similar to Shazam technology. And will include lots of extra Puppy Bowl FUN. So don’t forget to down load the fun! If you can’t download the app you can also interact with the Puppy Bowl on Facebook!
Now that you know what the Puppy Bowl is and you have invited your friends and neighbors over to watch the big game with you it is time to focus on what to serve. Not to worry we have you covered there. For the past two weeks we have had the test kitchen ovens roaring as we put together these fantastic recipes for you and your dogs to enjoy. But we don’t want you to have to slave in the kitchen instead of enjoying all the cute adorable puppies, kittens, hedgehogs, and hamsters so we made sure these were super easy to prepare.
The very first recipe out of our Puppy Bowl test kitchen were these awesome Blueberry Peanut Butter Dog Treats. With only 3 ingredients these are sure to be a hit with the cook and the dogs.
From there we recreated a party favorite this 2 Ingredient Vegetarian Casserole. Not only is it 2 Ingredients but you mix it right in the baking dish! So no messy clean up! We love this because it is nice and hearty for your human guests but if your canine guests get a hold of it there will be no ill effects.
Since we know many of you will be partying into the night with the Super Bowl where the snacks are generally less then healthy we wanted to try to keep things on the healthier side for dogs and people so our next recipe is a Strawberry Recipe – Oven Dried Strawberries. The long slow cook these need will warm up your house and be a favorite with 2 and 4 legged guests. Even dogs who don’t normally eat fruits seem to like these special treats.
No dog friendly party is complete without a dog treat or two. We figured there are lots of people out there who are not fans of cooking so if the first recipe for 3 ingredient treats was too involved try these Dog Treats made with only 2 ingredients! They were a hit here in the Puppy Bowl test kitchen with 4 paws up each from 3 dogs and a cat (don’t tell the cat she wasn’t supposed to like it) and full of healthy vegetables or fruit you choose the flavor or flavors!
I think every party should include Avocado Tomato Salad. If you click on the link and head over you will see we discuss how avocado and tomato are both full of healthy goodness for your dog.
For those of you who want to make this a late lunch or dinner party and are looking for even more dog friendly recipes we suggest this chicken salad recipe which is perfect for your human guests and not a problem if one of your canine guests steal a plate off the table and keep it as their own. Instead of using high fat (no nutritional value) mayonnaise it uses low fat yogurt and avocado and is full of colorful vegetables!
No dog friendly party is complete without party games. We suggest getting a box full of chew toys, balls, and ropes. Let the dogs choose what they want to play with. You can even take a page from the puppy bowl and put toys out all over the party area so that when they get bored with one the next one is right there waiting for them. You should also have a giant water bowl or two ready for your party guest to drink from when they get thirsty and lots of yummy treats for when it is time to rest. The couch will probably be full with your human guests so we suggest a few pillows and dog beds for rest time too.
Some fun puppy bowl party games are doggy in the middle. Tug of war. Hide the toy. And of course steal the toy and run away with it so that no one else can play with it.
