How You Can Help Your Local Animal Shelter or Humane Society

Give your animal shelter or Humane society the gift of a year’s worth of dog food!

Animal Shelter

As a Dog Blogger I get asked all the time how people can help their local Animal Shelter or Humane Society and I tell them about the different things they can do like volunteer their time to play with the animals or take a day to walk the dogs. If they don’t have extra time in their week I suggest that they call the shelter and find out what brand of food they prefer to feed their dogs and to pick up an extra bag to drop off for the dogs there. I share lists of items that animal shelters and humane societies love to receive both for the animals and their administrative needs. These are all great ways to help out but every once in a while an opportunity comes around that is just too good to pass up and the 2013 Pedigree Feeding Project is one of those opportunities for YOU to really help your local shelter or humane society in a MASSIVE way and I don’t want you to miss out.

This is an opportunity so big is can literally change YOUR local Animal Shelter or Humane Society. Instead of funds having to be set aside in the budget to feed the animals in their care or beg the local community for food during a food drive. Pedigree is going to go in and literally deliver all of the shelter’s core food needs for the dogs in their care for an entire year!

What is their core needs?
This food will be available for EVERY SINGLE DOG that comes through the shelter’s doors. Whether that dog is there for a day, a week, or a month. The shelter will know that they have fresh wholesome food for that dog. They will know that when the current bag of food is gone they will have another one just like it to feed the dogs. Why does that matter? Think about your own dog. You find a food your dog does well on and you feed it to your dog. You don’t go out and change foods after each bag because you know that will cause stomach upset. Well the same things happens at the shelter. Once month they might feed the dogs in their care 4 or 5 different types of food which leads to stomach upsets and no one wants to adopt a dog whose stomach is upset for some unknown reason. Plus changing food often stresses out the dogs immune system which can lead to their bodies spending energy on fighting off colds and flu’s while their coats become dull looking. With this gift of food from Pedigree dogs will not have stomach upset, will have a shiny coat, will have more energy to run and play with potential adopters and will have a better outlook on life.

What this means to your shelter?
You shelter will be able to concentrate on another area to help the animals in their care. Whether that is the ability to market the animals more or buy new crates or bring in an extra staff member or two build a long awaited dog run this donation from Pedigree would literally change YOUR local shelter or rescue or humane society in ways they can’t even image without it. Because without it they need that money in their budget to make sure they can buy food for the animals in their care.
