Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour (I used cornmeal but you can use anything you have at home)
  • 2 jars baby food (I used a jar of sweet potato and a jar of squash) you can use vegetable, fruit, or meat baby food just make sure it does not have onion which can cause anemia in dogs.
  • Extra flour to sprinkle on hands and tray for cutting out the cookies.
  • Healthy Oil (olive, coconut, flax, etc) to grease cookie sheet though you can choose to use none at all.
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 335 degrees
  2. Shake baby food jars as they tend to separate.
  3. Pour baby food (your choice of a single flavor or mix two flavors together for added vitamins and nutrients) into a mixing bowl. Spoon out any that remains in the jar,
  4. Add 2 cups of your choice of flour and mix well. Make sure to combine completely so that when cooked your dog doesn't get a mouthful of plain flour.
  5. Sprinkle flour on a tray (best to use one without a lip) or counter top.
  6. You can choose to grease your cookie sheet or not. If you don't it will be a little more difficult to lift the cookies off. I used olive oil but any healthy oil is a perfectly fine option.
  7. Take a chunk of the dough and flatten with a rolling pin though your hands will work just fine.
  8. Use your cookie cutters to cut out the shapes you would like your cookies to be. place on cookie sheet leaving a little space between cookies. They will not spread much but could.
  9. Place in 335 degree oven for 22 minutes.
  10. Allow to cool and serve to your dogs. Be sure to put these in an airtight container so that they will last.
Notes
I only had a large bone and large dog shape. This size is way too big to use as a treat for my dogs which is why I made mostly stars and hearts. Use size appropriate cookie cutters for your own dogs. For really small dogs I would use a cookie cutter smaller then the stars and hearts for a Great Dane Sized dog the bone shapes I made would be a good treat size.

  6. Wilson Elio says

Anemia is the most common disorder of the blood. The several kinds of anemia are produced by a variety of underlying causes. It can be classified in a variety of ways, based on the morphology of RBCs, underlying etiologic mechanisms, and discernible clinical spectra, to mention a few. The three main classes include excessive blood loss (acutely such as a hemorrhage or chronically through low-volume loss), excessive blood cell destruction (hemolysis) or deficient red blood cell production (ineffective hematopoiesis).;:.,

  19. I made these for my dog today. She didn’t like them, but she is a picky when it comes to treats. She would have rather just eaten a real apple or the applesauce without it being cooked into a cookie.

  20. Jennifer Johnson says

I made these treats, but they are softer than I would like. With all of the flour, I thought they would be harder and crunchier. Do you think I made them too thick? They are less than 1/4 inch. Or maybe just need to bake longer? I would like to try again. Any ideas to make them crunchier?

  21. Love this idea! Can they be stored at room temperature? Or do they need to be refrigerated?

  22. I have 3 old dogs, 29th and a 16th old
    collie X
I’m going to make these tomorrow.
    Thank you so much

Since it has baby food..does it need to be refrigerated?
