Cooking for Dogs Nestle Purina Style

I am here at Nestle Purina meeting the Brands, getting to know what they are passionate about, and learning about the Science behind their dog and cat foods. At Purina they have a test kitchen where they bring the ideas to life in a way that the people in the company can get an idea of what different ingredients added to a base protein will look and taste like. While the recipes used in this test kitchen are not ingredient for ingredient what the dog or cat food is made from it is a pretty good representation or in most cases starting point for what will eventually be on the shelves.

As a special treat they decided to create a tasting menu for the Bloggers here today to sort of let us see what our pets are eating. The menu was inspired by the food that Nestle Purina produces but were not exact replicas and while you certainly could give similar foods to your pet the ones they made us did have salt and pepper and some onion so wouldn’t necessarily be appropriate for the 4 legged family members. I just thought it was so neat that I had to share with all of you.

Our tasting menu started off with some Amuse Bouche inspired by Beneful Baked Delights: Savory Bacon Shortbread & Smoked Gouda Roasted Red Pepper Bars

I have to post this now because we are heading off to dinner in a few minutes and I need to get dressed but I wanted to share a little bit of my day so far today.
The Purina Chef and her Sous Chef Cooking for Dogs (I mean cooking for dog and cat bloggers). I do want to mention that these pictures are of other peoples plates. Since I have several food allergies my plates were slightly different looking and I wanted to be able to give you all the real thing. I wish I had brought my camera with me today but I didn’t realize that I would really need it. Sorry 🙁
