Puppy Destined for Dog Fighting Gets New Life

From trash to treasure

Over the weekend a Hill County sheriff’s deputy responded to a call at the Sunmart truck stop at IH-35 and FM 1304 in Abbott regarding a suspicious person. When the deputy arrived, she saw what appeared to be an intoxicated man in the parking lot. When she searched his vehicle, she found a bleeding one- month-old puppy with its ears and tail cut off on her way to a life of dog fights and pain.

The puppy was taken to the Hill County Paw Pals animal shelter and was then to a nearby veterinary clinic in Alvarado. Doctors at the veterinary clinic immediately put the animal on antibiotics and cauterized her ears and tail. The Hill County deputy arrested Roberto Ramirez Martinez at the scene. He was charged with animal cruelty, and remains in the Hill County Jail on bonds totaling $15,500.

Four days after finding her, “Julie The Pup” is scampering around like nothing ever happened. She’s drinking water, eating, and according to the vet she’s expected to make a full recovery. With the help of Facebook, adoption offers are pouring in from all over the state. From throw away to treasure Julie will have a new home and brand new life soon.

That’s a terrific ending. I am sooo glad little Julie was rescued!! What I am concerned about is that idiot guy who will probably get off without paying for it. When will people just love animals and stop abusing the?? I hope and pray that man who did this to little Julie will be tormented everyday untill he dies a tragic , gory death where he will then wake up in his new home-HELL!!
