Loose Dog Stops Traffic in Illinois

A loose dog eluded Illinois State Police troopers and IDOT crews on the Stevenson Expressway early Tuesday morning, tying up traffic on I-55. The dog, which has a collar, ran in and out of traffic for 5 miles on the inbound side of the expressway alluding rescuers and authorities.
The dog exited at Harlem and then continued running around that area after stopping to drink out of a puddle at an auto mechanic shop. The dog kept running from there and finally once completely worn out and ready to rest found a nice patch of grass where it took 5 good Samaritans working together to get a hold of her while a leash was put around her neck. While they allowed the exhausted dog to rest they gave her some fresh water and a bit of food after her ordeal.
She has been taken to the vet by one of the Good Sumaritans and given a full exam because her paw was injured. It seems she will be fine with a little rest and some love. The Good Samaritan says he will try to find out if the dog has an owner. If not, he says he will find a home for it.
