Vintage Pit Bull Photos

While not every breed is right for every family or their living situation we can all admire pictures of dogs of any breed who are companions to children and adults and appreciate their beauty and devotion. I can say that we will not be adding a Pit Bull to our house any time soon. I can also say that my encounters with the dogs have always been friendly and happy and I think that Red Pit Bulls are gorgeous dogs both the males and the females. When Indiana was a puppy she had a Red Pit suitor who just wanted to give her kisses and drool all over her. There is no special reason that I chose to post Pit Bulls today other then I literally Stumbled across some Vintage Pictures earlier and thought that Vintage Pit Bull Photos would make a great picture post and that I would love to have every Monday as Vintage Photo day.

  1. What great vintage photos!!

  2. I think you should start doing vintage monday. I really love vintage photos, and thinking about what life would have been like then.. The pictures of these pitbulls look nothing like the pictures today of them snarling and whatnot. It isn’t the dog’s fault that they get a bad rap, it’s all the people who have treated them as fighting machines..because I really love a pitbull =)

  3. I did not realize the breed went back that far. Nice photo’s 🙂

  4. So sad what pit bulls have become… Great pics.

    • Brandilynn,
Pit bulls are only what the owners train and allow them to be. I’ve had my older pittbull since he was 2 weeks old and we now have 2 of his puppies. We also had the dad of our oldest. NEITHER of them have harmed or posed a danger to anyone. Although my dogs are very protective of their house and us as a family as they should be – they have never harmed anyone. Pitt bulls in general have been given a bad name because of what others have trained them to be, but not all are vicious.

  5. Thanks for sharing. I love these pics and wish people would look at these and realize that pits are not fighting dogs.

  6. Awesome pics!

  7. What awesome photos! I’ve had nothing but friendly and positive encounters with the breed 🙂

  8. Wow these are neat photos! It’s cool to see them, I have always been afraid of larger dogs, but they look adorable in these!

those are amazing. with any amount of love any dog can be a great dog!

  10. It’s nice to take a trip back in time to when this breed was revered as the ‘nanny dog’ it’s a shame that so many uneducated people have tarnished the beauty of the Pit Bull, I sure do love my big snuggly girl!

  11. excellent post, very informative. I’m wondering why the other
experts of this sector do not realize this. You must proceed your writing.
I’m sure, you’ve a great readers’ base already!

  1. […] you know, for most of the dog’s history, the nickname for Pit Bulls was “The Nanny Dog”? For generations if you had children and wanted to keep them safe […]
