The Dane is gorgeous and very talented, but dead cat jokes have always made me really sad. I am still kind of upset at Doritos’ old commercial where the guy calls the dog to run at a closed door :/

    • When I saw the video I didn’t feel like he killed the cat just that he was burying the tags and collar after pulling them off and sending the cat to live down the block. But maybe that is just me because if Davinia could figure out a way to get rid of the feral cat that lives in our yard and tries to sneak inside so she can jump on the counters for food she would. Feral cat who I call kitten because she is so small doesn’t actually like being in the house she just knows the dog food bag is on a counter in the kitchen and so she jumps up on the counter and nuzzles it sometimes but then wants to go right out again.

      • Shawn Finch, DVM says

Oh, I hope you are right! Then it would not make me sad.

      • PS Davinia likes the cat just fine when it is outside and will let her walk with us down the block or cuddle up against her. She just doesn’t think that the cat belongs in the house. Indiana on the other hand could sort of care less what the kitten does.

    • Hi,

Since I was little, when something on TV frightened me, my parents would tell me that it was make believe. I just never thought the cat was actually dead, or at worse, it was like the animal version of the Soprano family.

  2. Hi Y’all,

What a great way to start the morning! BOL!

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  3. I agree Dr. Finch. My mind went right to killed cat and I bet that is what 99% of the people that see it think too. It’s sad because many people already feel cats have no value as pets. What would people think if the missing poster featured a chihuahua?

  4. That’s one very talented Dane!

  5. Cute commercial! I feel certain the cats he “released” will come back for revenge. This is our first SPBH post. Thanks for hosting.

  6. Love this commercial! Nah, I didn’t think he killed the cat. 🙂

  7. Very cute! I like it.

  8. Cute.
One of the main reasons why I watch the Bowl.

  9. DEAD CAT??????? AWE YOU KIDDING US???????????

He would be no match for us..we have sharp claws..MOL!!!

    • There you go! Kitties taking on a Great Dane. You would probably have that giant boy catering to your every whim in no time at all.

  10. There are going to be alot of GRRRRREAT animal advertisements this year. Just goes to show that dogs and cats can sell stuff better than humans and we can’t even talk! BOL!

  11. Cherie K. Miller (@Impeeved) says

Thanks for previewing the Super Bowl commercials. Did you see the one for Volkswagen? Very creative use of dogs in that one.

  12. sweet

  13. That was hilarious, but I don’t think my little dog did.

  14. Loved it! I hope Huff wins!

  15. Rocky Our Cairn Terrier says

Wonderful work and lets hope big year for cats, dogs and other Gods creatures!
This was also my first time to the hop and took time to add you to my links and to follow on twitter.
Hope to be here next week!

  16. pretty Picture

  17. Can’t wait for next week’s blog hopping experience! What fun this is every week. Thanks for hosting. What we REALLY need for the Super Bowl is a Great Dane with a costume malfunction!

  18. There is nothing funny about (or even worth smiling about) in an about killing a pet cat. It’s obvious what the intent was. My grandkids were upset by this. They got it, so how come some of you didn’t?

You can forget Doritos and other products made by this company at our house. It spoiled the day for my grandkids.

    • Doritos didn’t make the commercial. It was a contest where people could submit a video and then finalists were chosen. The winner was chosen by popular vote.

  19. I agree with Veterinarian Finch. This was not a nice (or funny) ad.

  20. Hello would you mind letting me know which web host you’re using?
I’ve loaded your blog in 3 completely different web browsers
and I must say this blog loads a lot faster then most.
Can you recommend a good hosting provider at a fair price?
    Thanks, I appreciate it!
