Several months ago we brought you the story of Dozer the Dog who had gotten out of his yard and gone for a run with the crowd of people passing his house during a half marathon for Cancer research. At the time Dozer’s owners had asked the hospital that the money was being raised for if he could have a contributions page to try and raise a few dollars. The Hospital agreed thinking he would raise a bit of money with his story. What happened next I don’t think anyone was prepared for. As of the writing of this article Dozer has raised a total of $20,565.00 for the Research institution. His new goal is $25,000 over and above what any of the human participants have been able to raise. He now graces a poster at the front entrance to Hospital and Research facility and has his own Facebook page to keep in touch with all of his adoring fans.
Dozer’s family was contacted by some of the runners he ran with and was asked to go with them to run in the Boston Marathon and the NY Marathon and other events across the country. As of right now his owner has said they will be entering him in the Half Marathon as an official runner next year since the course is right next to his home.
