Several months ago I posted about the plight of a Rescue in Hong Kong that was loosing its building and was forced to find a new one. They could not find a new building that fit their needs that would also allow their volunteers to continue their work. Most people in Hong Kong rely on public transportation of some kind or another and the fact that Hong Kong is a country made of up of tiny Islands connected to Central Hong Kong via ferry it is very difficult to get both volunteers and potential adopters to the New Territories because it requires hours of bus rides and changes if any are even available to that area. So they found temporary housing in someone’s home that is being scheduled for demolition but was given to the rescue as a temporary location.
Fast forward to last week. The little rescue that could and the biggest and one of the only no-kill shelters in the entire country was slammed with a Breeder dump of 18 English Bulldogs and it was all or nothing with this breeder. If 18 extra dogs on top of their very limited space was not bad enough the breeder put these dogs in the back of a utility van with no air conditioning for the drive to the shelter’s temporary location no water and cramped into tiny cages and then stacked on top of each other. It was just too hot in that van for the poor dogs and one adult arrived dead at the shelter. From what I have read they tried to resuscitate but it was too late. There was also a litter of newborn puppies one which was just too weak when it arrived at the shelter and with its momma dehydrated was unable to nurse back to health and then another puppy also lost its fight for life.
These dogs have probably spent their lives in cages because most had a very difficult time trying to walk and many were severely overweight all have open wounds or eye infections and red yeast problems. I really wanted to post some of their videos but I can’t find them on Youtube and don’t know how to embed from Facebook. Please take a minute to visit their page and watch the videos of these sweet babies in need of everyones help. From what I understand there was only one male who has already found his forever home all of the rest of the English Bulldogs are females most of which seem to have been bred and bred and bred from the looks of them. I have decided to only post pictures of the dogs and not their condition I felt that there is nothing we can do to help what happened to these poor baby only what we can do to ensure they find unbelievable forever homes. There are numerous pictures and videos on their facebook page that detail everything and are worth looking at you feel up to it.
Two sweet mommas taking a nap now that their tummies are full and they feel loved.
They will ship the dogs out of the country to a waiting home if they can get a flight that will comply with heat regulations. They are such sweet looking babies and all deserve lives of luxury spent in air conditioning and love. I can even put you in touch with a kennel facility (the one I used when we lived there) who can help you work out the details of shipping one of the dogs if you would be interested.
Keeping cool in the kiddie pool on a Hot Hong Kong Day. These dogs really need to find a home. They are not a breed that can handle the extreme summer temperatures in Hong Kong if they don’t have a home with air-conditioning.
If you know anyone living in Hong Kong or who travels there regularly on business please pass along the information about these dogs.
*All photos are from Hong Kong Dog Rescue’s Facebook page. They are used to show the dogs in need of a loving home. I do not know which dogs are still available and which ones have found homes. Please contact HKDR for more information.

Aww these dogs are adorable! Poor things…I love that the last pic of them in the pool.
Oh no! I do hope that those dogs get nice loving families in the end. I think it's very sad that every country has too many strays that will never feel the love of a home.
